Ok 14-stej zacumowaliśmy przy kei nad kan.Mittelland w Wolfsburgu. Był silny wiatr cały dzień, ale akurat na moment dobijania do kei siekło deszczem i zrobiło się się szaro. Jakiś dobry człowiek z motorówki podleciał do nas i wziął cumę. I co? Było po ulewie. Aby się rozgrzać otworzyliśmy Warke i słyszymy „Halo!” A to była Irena, z która byliśmy umówieni telefonicznie. Znalazła nas, bo jej przyjaciel Bernt z Motorclub widział nas jak mijaliśmy ich marine. Tam niestety było dla nas za płytko /1,40 m / oraz za ciasno. Należy pamiętać, ze na tutejszych rzekach i kanałach panują motorówki rożnej maści, a one maja małe zanurzenie.
Pokazaliśmy Irence wnętrze jachtu i wkrótce /kot został w środku jachtu/ z bardzo ambitnym celem /już pieszo/ ruszyliśmy do miasta. Nie było daleko, ponieważ z kei widzieliśmy HBH i peron E. Ale w tym momencie akurat lunęło, tak ze przestawszy parę minut pod lichym daszkiem prawie biegiem do pobliskiej kładki. Deszcz przestał padać. Zimno, ale dzielnie Irena wyjaśniała, gdzie jesteśmy, jakie są ciekawe budynki. Po paru minutach dotarliśmy do włoskiej restauracji. Standard jak to u Włochów i pysznie się najedliśmy.
Wolfsburg to młode miasto, bo powstało w latach 1936 w związku z rozwojem przemysłu zbrojeniowego. Nawet ratusz to niezbyt imponujący budynek, taka zaledwie piętrowa jakby biblioteka. Natomiast architekci wznieśli wiele budowli , jak: dworzec kol., stadion, hotel Ritz, no i bezwzględnie panujący Volkswagen, który akurat od tygodnia promuje swój nowy produkt POLO. Trwa ich kongres, goście z całego świata. Na tą okazję wybudowano restaurację na wodzie /na pontonach/.W przeszklonych okrągłych wieżowcach, pięknie oświetlonych czeka na klientów 700
szt. samochodów. Jest to niesamowity obraz. I o dziwo Volkswagena ominął kryzys. Ciągle potrzebują ludzi do pracy.
Nasi przyjaciele zawieźli nas do swojego domu, a po drodze oglądaliśmy śliczne miejsca. Mnie zauroczyło tzw. Stary Wolfsburg, a właściwie wieś, która zapoczątkowała rozwój miasta. Wieś /ok. 700 lat historii/, domy budowane w stylu muru pruskiego, oczywiścieślicznie odmalowane, wokół drzewka, kwiatki itd.
Doznaliśmy wiele miłych wrażeń u Ireny i jej męża Henninga. Przyszedł Bernt /ten z mariny Wolfsburgermotorclub/ , wiec dużo dowiedzieliśmy się o tutejszym żeglarstwie. Rozkosznie było wziąć prysznic w tak niewyobrażanej ilości wody w porównaniu do tego co mamy na jachcie. Dzięki Irenko, to było boskie!

About 2 pm we moored at the pier on Mittelland Canal in Wolfsburg. There was a strong wind all day, but just in time we were approaching the pier heavy rain got us and it became gray. A good man with a boat approached us and took our line. And what? It was already after a downpour. To warm us up we opened the Warka and in the next second we hear "Hello!" And it was Irena, with whom we have set a meeting via mobile. She found us because her friend Bernt from Motorclub saw us as we passed the Marina. There was, unfortunately for us, too shallow / 1.40 m / and too tight. Here on the local rivers and canals there are various shades of boats but they all have a small draft.
We showed the interior of the boat to Irena and soon (the cat stayed inside) we went out to the to the city. It wasn’t far as we have seen from the pier and main train station and platform E. But at this point it started raining heavily again, so we stopped a few minutes under a lousy roof right over to a nearby footbridge. The rain stopped. It was cold, but Irena bravely explained where we were, what are the interesting buildings. A few minutes later we arrived at an Italian restaurant. Good Italian standard and we soon where full and happy.
Wolfsburg is a young city, because it was founded only in 1936 as a result of the development of the armaments industry. Even City Hall is not very impressive building, it looks like a small library. However, there are other nice buildings, such as: train stations, stadium, Hotel Ritz, and absolutely dominating Volkswagen, which just a week ago started to promote its new product POLO. They have some congress and there are guests from around the world. On the occasion they built a restaurant on the water, on pontoons. In round glass skyscrapers, beautifully lit there are waiting 700 cars for clients. This is an amazing picture. And, surprisingly Volkswagen in not in crisis. They are still hiring.
Our friends drove us to their house, and on the way we saw beautiful places. I was charmed with Old Wolfsburg, and in fact the village, from which the development of the city started (around 700 years old). Houses built in the style of half-timbered and of course beautifully painted, all surrounded by trees, flowers, etc.
We have experienced a lot of hospitality from Irena and her husband Henning. Bernt came also (from the marina in Wolfsburg Motorclub), so we learned a lot about the local sailing. It was so delightful to take a shower in such an amount of water in comparison to what we have on the boat. Thanks Irena, it was great!
